The annual three-week winter break came to an end this morning, and one would think, after 10 years of this, that the transition back to school would go smoothly.
One would think so, but one would be wrong.
The morning was fraught with myriad glitches, beginning with our inability to locate my daughter's lunchbox. We both remember her bringing it home, but neither one of us could find it this morning...
...and the entire exercise was moot when I opened the package of cold cuts I'd planned on using for her sandwich and decided against using it.
"You'll have to buy lunch today," I told her.
After she left for school, I realized that I never got around to giving her any lunch money. I also noticed that she left her phone on my desk. This would not be a problem...
...except when I arrived to pick her up, I discovered that the parking lot where we usually meet is closed right now for construction. I'm parked at our alternate pickup point, and hope she realizes I'm there.
I'm just glad today wasn't my turn to drive carpool. That's tomorrow, which I hope will go more smoothly.
