Plans for the BlogHer conference are heating up, as we get closer to the start date of July 28. I will once again be live blogging several sessions:
Day 1:
- Workshop #2 - Digital Photography
Day 2:
- Opening Discussion* - How Are Your Blogs Changing the World?
- Session 3 - ROYO Group Blogging
- Closing Keynote* - Creating Your Platform
* These sessions will be covered by ALL of BlogHer's live bloggers.
While BlogHer doesn't officially start for another 11 days, several of the BlogHers (led by Mocha Momma) are too excited to wait. So she's organized an online meetup of BlogHers worldwide -- you don't even have to be planning to be in San Jose next week to participate (after all, there will be plenty of people attending BlogHer virtually, through the live blogging accounts and audio blogging podcasts of the sessions).
Mocha Momma's plan involved folks interviewing each other -- but as I'm late to the party (should have been done by last night and I did not find out about this until I pulled in my email this morning), I'm just going to answer the questions and do the links myself -- but I invite you all to do the same (kind of like tagging all my visitors to participate in an organized meme!) If you do, please add the BlogMe graphic and link to your site and send me your link so we can all get to know each other better!
BLOG ME SELF-INTERVIEW (See the complete list of questions here.)
When did you start blogging and why? Or Talk about your blog. What can I learn about you in under 5 minutes?
I’ll be celebrating my three-year blogiversary in December. I started my blog to record a visit to the UK (where my inlaws live) and sidetrip to Paris. I thought the blog would be a good way to keep my friends and family in the States up to date on what we were doing over there. I just continued doing it after we got home.
How do you use blogging to build friendships?
I don’t actually USE blogging to build friendships – they just kind of happen. People visit me and comment and I reciprocate by visiting them and commenting back – before you know it, there’s a kind of relationship there. I get more from some of my online friendships than some of my “real” friends – for one thing, they GET my need for keeping a blog.
How would you describe your writing style?
Chatty. I try to imagine that I'm speaking to a friend.
How do you feel about meeting bloggers in real life? Are you nervous? Will you have great expectations? What do you home to take away from the BlogHer experience?
I love meeting bloggers in real life and had a blast at last year’s BlogHer. Strangely enough, I am a little bit nervous. I met some AMAZING people last year and have followed their progress over the last 12 months – I’ve seen so many of them grow so much. My year hasn’t been so productive – I’m going into this conference feeling a little bit diminished – and worrying that my friends from last year are going to be “too cool” to want to hang out with me this year. I guess we never outgrow high school. What I want to take away from this year’s experience is the same high and inspiration
So soon we’re going to meet each other at BlogHer. Important question. How do you party?
Briefly. My 50-year-old body can’t handle partying like it used to.
NOW -- I may have missed the boat on exchanging interviews, but it's never too late to tag 10 other participants... I pick:
