My latest DotMoms post, written on Friday, is now up and running here.
Megan awoke with a fever that morning, and at the time, I was happy to be forced to stay home to care for her.
She was feverish through Saturday. Yesterday, she felt well enough to attend a friends' birthday party... and we felt good enough about her to meet Tim and Debbie and Tanya for our annual holiday ritual -- meeting at Tapia Brothers' farm in Sepulveda Basin to pick out Christmas trees, followed by a yummy dinner at Rosti in Encino.
But she relapsed a bit this morning with the development of a croupy cough that makes her sound like a barking seal. So we are home together again today. And I'm going a little bit NUTS.
Because between this illness, the two dentist appointments to take care of the tooth that became infected, holidays, and school obligations that refuse to die, I've had NO TIME FOR MYSELF... even on my so-called days off.
Aside from the cough, Megan isn't feeling so bad. This means she's bored. I've been forcing her to read a book (one with actual chapters and very few pictures). It's driving her crazy, and so she's been doing the same to me. I finally relented and told her we could watch a movie together once she hits page 100.
The one fun thing I have done over the last few days at home is catch up with a lot of my favorite blogs and the bloggers who blog them. I found myself IM'ing with Jen, who I got to meet here in L.A. last July, and she made some comment about how she wanted to get fake nails like mine, and I had to laugh because I haven't been able to forge the time to do any maintenance on my fake nails in months, so now they look truly scary -- like a Dragon Queen in some weird B-horror movie from the 60's. And we won't even talk about my hair, which is showing a lot more gray than I care to reveal now that I'm trying to live in denial of my advancing age.
