The Medieval Louvre

The Louvre building as we know it is the result of extensive modifications done by French kings. Like many European palaces, its origins date back many hundreds of years. About a decade ago, workers discovered the original foundation of the castle as it appeared in medieval days. This section has been preserved and presented so the public can see it. It was also one of the least crowded areas of the museum, so it was a kind of peaceful area to stroll through.
